Granados wrote only two works for piano 4 hands: En la aldea (In the Village), and Dos marchas militares (Two Military Marches). His only work scored for 2 pianos is not an original work, but is a transcription of Triana by Isaac Albéniz, originally written for piano solo.
Granados performed numerous concerts of works for 2 pianos and piano 4 hands with Edouard Risler and with Joaquín Malats. Thus, it is somewhat surprising that he did not compose more works for either of these two formats. This edition is the first publication of En la aldea. The only previous edition of Dos marchas militares is the one published by Unión Musical Española, Madrid. Editorial Boileau published Granados’ transcription for 2 pianos of Triana for the first time in 1990.
