Joe Cutler's Comfortable Music for Violin and Piano accompaniment.
Comfortable Music was commissioned by the 2007 Stratford-upon-Avon Music Festival, with the support of Arts Council England. The piece is in threemovements which are marked 'Restrained and Elegant', “Gritty (like some roadhouse music)' and 'Tense'. The piece is dedicated to the memory of William 'Winkie' Padel (1915 - 2007) who was Cutler's violin teacher from the age ofnine to eighteen. The piece was first performed by Ruth Rogers (violin) and Martin Cousin (piano) on Wednesday 17th October 2007 at Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall. It was recorded by Darragh Morgan (violin) and Mary Dullea(piano)and released on the CD 'Boogie Nights' (Birmingham Record Company).
